Disable HP solution update in Windows 7

Question: Thank you for your HP2840 tips. I have another question. I am frequently, exactly once a week, getting a UAC (User Account Control) dialog box that asks for permission to run hprbupdate.exe on Windows 7. This popup even made sometimes a full-screen game or Windows Media Center crashes. I always deny access for this popup since I don’t know if it’s safe. What is it and how to get rid of it? Answer: When you run All-In-One suite on your Windows 7 or Vista this HP application is asking for permission to run Hewlett Packard update process that requires Administrator privileges. hprbupdate.exe is not a trojan or virus. You can disable it if you want. Solution: 1. Find C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\Product Assistant\bin folder and launch hprbui.exe. 2. Click on the Preferences link on the left-hand pane. 3. Under the Basic Settings section choose “Disable Solution Updates” 4. Click on the Save button.
